Before you ask

What you are told before you choose.

Is it the page, or a picture of the page?

The page. And beside each one you are told what it actually does before you take it: whether anything on it runs, whether its typefaces are fetched from Google on every visit, whether it carries an embed. Including what you give up by choosing the quiet one — no carousels, no countdowns, no scroll effects.

Could a design send my visitors somewhere else?

Some can, and those are marked in red before you pick them. A design where a page redirects the visitor, or points every link at another website, says so on its own card. You are not meant to discover that from your traffic.

What about the contact form on it?

Marked too, in red, when it posts to somebody else’s server — because that is not a design flaw, it is your enquiries going to a stranger. You point it at your own before you go live, and the card tells you it needs doing.

What if I pick one and change my mind?

You can switch, and the page you had is copied first — before the switch, not after it. Version history lists what you have tried and puts any of them back. Your other pages keep the design they were built with, so changing your mind about the front page costs you the front page.

So can I actually try a few?

Yes, and that is the point of keeping them. Switch, look at it on your own screen with your own words in it, switch again. Nothing you have already built is spent by looking, which is the only way anybody chooses a design honestly.
